Mumbai by the Sea – Koli Village to Carter Sunset
Fisherfolk Stories, Coastal Trails & Seaside Chai
🔹 Tour Overview
Step away from the city’s usual landmarks and dive into Mumbai’s suburban soul, where the sea still rules the rhythm of life.
This walking trail flows through the hidden fishing villages of Juhu and Khar Danda, revealing a world of Koli traditions, wooden boats, hand-woven nets, and seaside shrines. As you wander from sandy shores to back lanes, you’ll experience how Mumbai’s first communities continue to thrive by the tides.
The journey ends at Carter Road Promenade with chai and sea breezes — or, for those who want more, an optional extension to Bandra Fort (Castella de Aguada) with sweeping Sea Link views.
This isn’t just a walk. It’s Mumbai seen through its waves, fisherfolk, and sunsets — a rare suburban journey few travelers ever take.

🔹Frequently Asked Questions
Is this tour suitable for kids/seniors?
Yes — this is a relaxed walking tour of around 4–4.5 km with plenty of breaks for stories, photos, and a chai stop. Most children (8+) enjoy the boats, fishing nets, and seaside life, and active seniors usually find the pace comfortable.
That said, please note:
The optional Bandra Fort extension is best done by auto, not on foot, for kids and seniors.
The walk includes sandy stretches and narrow village lanes, which may be uneven in places.
We recommend carrying water, a cap/hat, and light footwear.
Families with very young children, or seniors with mobility concerns, may find one of our car-based experiences (like the Spirit of Mumbai Tour) more suitable.
Can I take photos?
Absolutely! Especially at the beach, fishing boats, and Carter Road sunset. Please respect villagers’ privacy.
What if it rains?
The route becomes even more atmospheric. Unless there’s a severe alert, tours run as planned.
What time does the tour start?
Tour starts at 4:30 PM IST
